We have many fond memories of Kate but have choose this one to share with you all about our dear friend Kate who certainly knew how to enjoy life .
 
The events that are written below are as true as we can remember them  and are supported by some fond old photos .
 
May 22nd  1996  Benagalbon Spain Kates Birthday
 
WE were all ready for the big party night at Eduardos Bar in this tiny little village Near velez Malaga
We were renting private holiday accommodation set deep in the country side of Andalucia Spain .
 
And the focus was to celebrate Kates 43 birthday at the local bar with a mixture of English and Spanish customs , Spanglish you might say . and boy did we all have a brilliant time at this pub .
 
Eduardo , by the way was the land lord and who we got to know a few nights before Kates party night .
 
Well us being us Brian Kate Peter & Angela all enjoyed a drink periodically and decided to open up the hatch so to speak , with ice cold beers all round , Funny thing was that when we asked to pay for the round Eduardo would just say 500 pesatas and point to a shoe box behind the bar , in other words  you walked behind the bar  and paid for it yourself . As Eduardo was busy cleaning his moped which was also in the bar
 
.Well the night moved on and a few more locals came in and it got noisier and noisier and then in came a man called GEORGE , George was a local as such who came from Germany and spoke both English and Spanish fluently , Well the drinks started to kick in and we some how ended up singing would you believe .
 
Rule Brittania
 
At a Spanish bar with a German Local and yes George even knew the words to rule Britania . and everybody including the locals had a wonderful time , Kate asked Eduardo where the loo was and he pointed to a cubicle in the corner of the bar actually in the bar ,next to his moped , Well when Kate was in side He decided to tip a large jug of water over the top of the door .
 
There was a almighty scream and Kate fled out into the bar pretty well drenched all we could do was laugh.

Eduardo had by  now some Dutch courage inside of him and asked   Kate for a Dance and the next thing was they were both gliding (or something like that ) around the bar to some kind of Julio Iglesias music .
 
Then in came the Guardia Civil Police as it was now pretty late, Christ said Kate as she hurried back to the bar for yet more booze ,
 
Eduardo sloped across the bar and slipped the police what looked like notes and they disappeared as quickly as they arrived and  all resumed as before .
 
Well we  all decided to hit the top shelf and Eduardo recommended Kate try  a birthday special which was a short called
Cuarenta y tres  meaning 43 in English how very appropriate as Kate was 43 years old that very day .
 
Some how we all found ourselves making our way home in the dark up a dry river bed which was a short cut back to our accommodation. Kate and Brian had a steep hill to climb  up a load of wobbly old stone steps.

Next morning we all got round for breakfast out on the veranda and had a great old catch up on the night before .
 
And for sure Kate what a night before we all had, and thank you Kate  our dear friend for such wonderful memories .
